AMHERST, N.Y. -- Daemen University freshman outside hitter Charlotte Koerber (Munich, Germany) was named the East Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week, the league announced in the weekly sport report on Monday. The honor comes for competitions taking place Sept. 4-10. This is the second straight weekly conference award Koerber has earned this season.

As the reigning ECC Player of the Week, Koerber led the Wildcats to a perfect 3-0 on the weekend at the Wildcat Den Classic where Daemen picked up wins over California (Pa.), Davis & Elkins and Ohio Dominican in the tournament. The 6-foot outside hitter earned All-Tournament honors after totaling 25 kills (3.57 kills per set) for a .268 hitting percentage, while adding 21 digs (3.0 digs/set), two aces and three total blocks on the weekend. Koerber earned her fourth and fifth double-double of the season in the two matches she played in.

After posting 12 kills on 28 attempts against Cal on Friday night, Koerber finished with a match-high 13 kills against Ohio Dominican in the tournament finale on Saturday.

Koerber has played and started in six of Daemen's seven matches this season. She leads the Wildcats offensively with 71 kills to average 3.23 kills per set while hitting at a .212 clip on the season. Koerber ranks second on the team in service aces (12) and third on the team with 61 digs (2.77 digs/set).

She is the first Daemen women's volleyball player to earn ECC Rookie of the Week since Nahirka Malpica (Caguas, P.R.) in Week 5 of the 2022 season.

Koerber and the Wildcats will play in their third straight tournament this weekend as they travel down to Long Island to play four matches at the Adelphi Volleyball Invitational. Daemen opens up tournament play on Friday at 10 AM with a match against Quincy, then will face Wilmington later that day at 4:30 PM. The Wildcats will take on New Haven and Adelphi on Saturday.
