Tiffany Hamilton has been appointed to the college’s cabinet, becoming the first chief diversity officer to join the body.
Cabinet is composed of senior officers at the college, including the president and vice presidents, who are responsible for the institution’s day-to-day governance.
“I am honored to be able to represent my colleagues as a member of the president’s cabinet,” said Hamilton, also director of the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) at Daemen. “It is a tremendous responsibility and one I do not hold lightly.”
She added, “To have someone at the table dedicated to ensuring that diversity, equity and belonging are a priority in decision making demonstrates Daemen’s continued commitment to creating safe and inclusive spaces for our entire community.”
Hamilton leads Daemen’s new Center for Diversity and Inclusion, and, as chief diversity officer, she is tasked with leading the college’s efforts to create and sustain a campus culture that embraces and promotes equity and equality.
“In recent times, the position of chief diversity officer has become a very important part of the leadership of colleges throughout the nation,” said Gary Olson, president of the college. “Daemen is no exception in this regard.”
“Tiffany is warmly embraced by the entire cabinet and will bring much insight to the leadership of the college,” he added.
A Buffalo native, Hamilton earned a master’s degree in student personnel administration from SUNY Buffalo State and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from SUNY Fredonia.
“I hope you will help me congratulate Tiffany,” said Olson.
