Daemen University Veteran Services hosted its first annual Vets Expo on Saturday, May 10 in the Yurtchuk Student Center.
The expo—a free event for veterans, dependents, and military families—gave attendees access to a variety of veteran service organizations, including Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park, Buffalo VA Medical Center, Clear Path for Veterans, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, Dog Tags New York, Movement Mortgage, LLC, NY Helmets to Hardhats, Inc., NYS Department of Veterans’ Services, Team RWB Buffalo, VetCenter, Veterans Defense Program, Veterans One Stop, VFW National Home, WNY Heroes, and Wounded Warrior Project.
“Daemen University has a longstanding commitment to veterans and military-aligned students spanning decades,” said Robyn Swan, Assistant Director of Veteran Services and Counselor at Daemen, adding, “Our expo provides a unique opportunity for Daemen to bring together local veteran service organizations, service members, stakeholders, advocates, and resources. We share a unified goal of offering a comprehensive network of veteran service providers to reach veterans in a safe place with distribution of educational and recreational information designed to improve veteran and service member outcomes.”
Daemen’s Veteran Services team collaborates with the entire university and community to provide veterans, service members, and military-aligned students the opportunity to gain access to critical, and, in some cases, life-saving information. “It’s an honor to be able to provide this opportunity to the community with the full endorsement of the university President, Provost, Cabinet, and Board of Directors,” said Swan.
