AMHERST, N.Y. - The Tenth Annual Wildcat Golf Classic will take place on Thursday, August 18 at Diamond Hawk Golf Course in Cheektowaga, the Daemen University Division of Athletics announced today. Since its inception, the Wildcat Golf Classic has developed into the largest single-day fundraising event of the year for Daemen Athletics as its brings together alumni, fans and corporate partners in support of Daemen's nearly 250 student-athletes.

"With Daemen celebrating its 75th anniversary and the recent elevation to university status, we're hopeful that the 10th Annual Wildcat Golf Classic will be our biggest and most successful yet," said Director of Athletics Traci Murphy. "It is a wonderful opportunity for parents, fans, alumni, corporate partners and other supporters to make an investment in the continued evolution of our program. I am confident that our staff will collaborate with the folks at Diamond Hawk Golf Club to put on another first-rate event. I hope you'll consider joining us for some fun in the sun."

The event will feature a 12 p.m. shotgun tee time, with accommodations for up to 144 golfers. In addition to a full 18-hole round of golf at Western New York's premier public course, participants can expect driving range and putting green access, tee gifts, lunch and dinner prepared by the Diamond Hawk Clubhouse, as well as beverages and other fun activities on the course. The tournament is played under a traditional four-man scramble format. No handicaps are needed for participation.

Registrations will be accepted for individual golfers, twosomes, threesomes or foursomes at a cost of $170 per golfer ($680 per foursome). The early bird registration price is available through August 5, after which the price will rise to $185 per golfer and $740 per foursome. Last year's tournament completely sold out, so act now to reserve your spot in the tournament field.

A wide-array of sponsorship opportunities are also available for those wishing to make it a more corporate experience for themselves or area businesses. Sponsorships range from $225 to $3,000 and include various marketing elements. Donations of gift certificates, sports equipment, game or event tickets and merchandise for use as event prizes will be accepted as well.

Funds generated from the event benefit the Wildcat Athletics Association - the umbrella of financial support for Daemen Athletics. The Wildcat Athletics Association supports the division's yearly operating budget by providing funds dedicated to enhancing student-athlete support services, athletics scholarships and renovations to existing athletic facilities.
