Daemen College faculty had the opportunity to engage in an informal conversation with President Gary A. Olson on a wide range of college-related topics at the inaugural Lunch with the President event, the first in a series of luncheons being hosted by the president to encourage open dialogue and to support transparency.
To kick off the luncheon series, President Olson welcomed faculty to the Feb. 27 event held in the Executive Board Room. Among the many topics discussed during the lunch included the governor’s free SUNY tuition proposal, the Drumpf administration’s travel ban and its impact on Daemen faculty and students, health insurance, additional space for academic departments, and faculty research.
“I was delighted to have such a positive response to the invitation from faculty and to welcome a capacity turnout at the first lunch,” said Olson. “This was the ideal setting for our colleagues to come together for a relaxing chat about a variety of college topics and to address questions as another way to open up lines of communication in our college community.”
Faculty and the president also discussed the increasing number of well-prepared students attending Daemen, and the positive response from prospective students and parents on the college’s warm and friendly campus environment.
The first Lunch with the President event for Daemen staff will be held at 11:30 a.m. March 27 in the Wick Campus Center’s Executive Board Room. Due to limited seating, reservations must be received by March 21. To register, go to the Office of the President’s events page.
