AMHERST, N.Y. -- Paige Emborsky (Newfane, N.Y.) of Daemen University has been named to the Academic All-America Division II Women's Basketball Team as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). A third team selection, the award recognizes her combined achievements in the classroom and on the basketball court. The entire 16-team selection was announced on Wednesday afternoon.

To be eligible for Academic All-America honors, student-athletes must be a starter of important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and they must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility with at least one full calendar year completed at his/her current institution. A Leadership & Innovation major, Emborsky has maintained a 4.00 cumulative grade point average.

Emborsky becomes the second women's basketball student-athlete in Daemen's NCAA era (2015-present) to earn Academic All-America honors. She joins former basketball standouts Andrew Sischo and Katie Titus along with men's soccer star Derek Bartlo, who was named a CSC Academic All-American in the fall, as the only student-athletes from Daemen to earn the prestigious honor. Emborsky was one of three Daemen women's basketball players to be named Academic All-District by the CSC earlier this season.

In her final year of collegiate eligibility, Emborsky put together a solid 2022-23 campaign. The 5-foot-6 guard finished her one-year Daemen career with a team-high 284 points, averaging 11.4 points per game. She started in 24 of 25 games this season and led the team with 28.4 minutes per game. Emborsky led all Wildcats shooting 52.7-percent from the field (96-of-182), and finished with double-digit points in 14 games on the year. The sharpshooter finished the season shooting 59.1-percent (65-of-110) from beyond the arc, leading all Division II players throughout the year. Her 59.1-percent three-point field goal percentage set an NCAA Division II record for highest three-point field goal percentage in a season, breaking the decades-old record of .563 set by Durene Heisler of North Dakota in 1990 (63-of-112) and Becky Mauck of North Alabama in 1998 (45-of-80). She was named First Team All-East Coast Conference, marking the eighth straight season a Daemen player earned first team all conference.

A product of Newfane High School, Emborsky spent her first two years at Niagara County Community College before transferring to play Division I basketball for her junior and senior seasons in Texas at Abilene Christian University.

Emborsky helped lead the Wildcats to their fourth consecutive ECC regular season titles, and their second straight ECC Tournament title (and third in four years) while punching their ticket to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the third straight season. Daemen finished the year with a 20-5 overall record and a 13-3 mark in ECC play. The Wildcats ended the season ranked eighth in the country in scoring defense, only allowing their opponents to score an average of 54.7 points per game.
