Titus Named First Team All-American By D2 CCA

AMHERST, N.Y. - Senior forward Katie Titus (Penfield, N.Y.) of Daemen University has been named to the 2021-22 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball All-America First Team by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA). Selections for the D2 CCA All-America Teams were made by sports information directors from institutions and conference offices.

Titus' selection comes on the heels of the strongest season of her already stellar career. She averaged 20.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game and recorded a team-high 10 double-doubles while leading the Wildcats to a 22-5 record, East Coast Conference regular season and tournament championships and a run to the NCAA Division II East Regional finals. She was named to the All-ECC First Team for the third time in her career while also garnering ECC and East Region Player of the Year honors. Titus is one of 14 Division II players to average at 20.0 points per game this season (she ranks ninth among the national leaders), and the first Daemen player to do so Sarah Soroka (23.6 ppg) during the 2010-11 season.

Titus scored 10 or more points in 25 of 27 games this season, including 12 games 20+ points. Coming into the season, she had never scored more than 27 points in a game, but that changed in a big way as Titus posted six 30-point outings. She canned 15-of-22 shots and finished with a career-high 38 points in a December victory over the University of Bridgeport. In February, Titus went off for 37 points while tying the program's NCAA era record for three-point field goals (7) in a road win at Molloy College that clinched the ECC regular season title.

At the NCAA Division II East Regional, Titus averaged 25.3 points and 13.7 rebounds per game and was named to the All-Regional Team. She netted 34 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the eighth-seeded Wildcats to an upset of fourth-seeded Jefferson University in the semifinal round. Titus went on to score a game-high 27 points and collect 15 rebounds in Daemen's two-point loss to seventh-seeded Pace University in the regional finals.

Titus became the 27th member of Daemen's 1,000 point club during a November victory over Angelo State. She appeared in all 100 games since the start of the 2018-19 season, helping Daemen to a 77-23 record. In that time, she made 92 starts (73 consecutive) and totaled 1,512 points, 799 rebounds, 196 three-point field goals and 160 blocked shots - ranking in the top 10 in program history for each. Titus is the first player in program history with at least 1,400 points, 750 rebounds, 150 blocks and 150 three-point field goals. She also is the program's all-time leader in free throw percentage (85.5).

Titus also becomes the first player of the Daemen program's NCAA era (2015-present) to garner All-American honors from the D2 CCA. She, along with former teammate Caroline White (Fairport, N.Y.), earned honorable mention All-American recognition from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) following the 2020-21 season. It also marks the second All-American honor for Titus just this week. Earlier, she was named to the Academic All-America Second Team by the College Sports information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Titus is joined on the D2 CAA All-America First Team by Makyra Tramble of Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Sha Carter of Walsh University, Re'Shawna Stone of Glenville State College and Michaela VanderKlugt of Concordia University Irvine. Tramble was also named the 2021-22 Ron Lenz National Player of the Year.
