The Amherst Chamber of Commerce partnered with Daemen University to host the 2024 Emerging Business Leaders Symposium on campus on Friday, March 8, providing faculty with the opportunity to share their expertise and network with the broader community.
The symposium is part of the chamber’s Emerging Business Leaders (EBL) program, which consists of young professionals who meet monthly to increase their network, expand their leadership skills, and learn how to make a meaningful impact in the community.
“Make sure you take the opportunity to mix and mingle with one another here today,” advised A.J. Baynes, the president & CEO of the Amherst Chamber of Commerce, as the event started. “There’s a lot of people from various industries throughout the community, and our goal is that you’ll be bumping into each other as you continue to grow your careers and participate in your communities.”
The symposium included three presentations from Daemen faculty members:
- “Building an Argument for Change” with Margaret Phillips, the director of the Paralegal Studies Program and an associate professor;
- “Improving Performance by Strengthening the Weakest Link” with Dr. Tito Rodriguez, an assistant professor in the Alfiero School of Business;
- “Exploit Your Personality Traits in Leadership Roles” with Dr. Aaron Joyal, an assistant professor in the Alfiero School of Business.
“Daemen is proud to partner with the Amherst Chamber of Commerce and the Emerging Business Leaders program to offer this professional development opportunity,” said Dr. Mimi Steadman, the interim vice president for enrollment, marketing, and communications. “With increasing competition and constant change across industries, Daemen offers flexible options for professionals to strengthen skills and expand their knowledge for career advancement.”
Since EBL launched eight years ago, more than 400 people have completed the program.
