AMHERST, N.Y. -- Henry Moffitt (Sydney, Australia) of the Daemen University men's volleyball team has been named to the Academic All-America Division II Men's At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). A second team selection, the award recognizes his combined achievements in the classroom and on the court. The entire 47-team was announced this afternoon.

To be eligible for Academic All-America honors, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and they must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility with at least one full calendar year completed at his/her current institution. A graduate student focusing on international business, Moffitt has maintained a 3.93 cumulative grade point average. Men's At-Large selections are based on eligible student-athletes from the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice Hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

Moffitt is also a member of the Daemen men's track & field team, but earned the honor in recognition of his accomplishments on the volleyball court. He becomes the first men's volleyball student-athlete from Daemen to earn Academic All-America honors, and just the sixth Daemen student-athlete all-time to earn the prestigious honor. Along with former basketball standouts Andrew Sischo and Katie Titus, Moffitt becomes the fourth Wildcat to be named Academic All-America in the 2022-23 school year, joining Derek Bartlo of men's soccer, Paige Emborsky of the women's basketball and Zachary Laplante of men's tennis.

Moffitt capped off his five-year career with the Daemen men's volleyball team this past spring. One of just two players to start all 24 matches this year, he would cap the year by being named second-team All-Northeast Conference (NEC). A 6-foot-6 middle hitter, he led all NEC players and ranked fourth in the nation with a .448 hitting percentage. A two-time First Point/NEC Defensive Player of the Week selection during the 2023 season, he also led the team and set the Daemen single-season record for total blocks (65) this year. Moffitt also ranked third on the team in kills (165) and added 31 digs and 13 service aces on the year. He recorded double-digit kills in six matches this season and recorded at least one block in 23 of Daemen's 24 matches. A member of Daemen's inaugural men's volleyball season back in 2019, Moffitt exits as the program's all-time leader in matches played (86), sets played (301), total blocks (192), total assisted blocks (137) and career hitting percentage (.388). He also ranks second among Daemen's all-time leaders in career kills (481).

2023 was the inaugural season for NEC men's volleyball. The Daemen finished the season with a program-record 17 wins, as the Wildcats finished 17-7 overall and placed second in the NEC with an 11-3 conference record. Daemen entered the first ever NEC Tournament as the No. 2 seed, but fell to eventual tournament champion Long Island University in the semifinals. Additional highlights of the 2023 season included a 11-match winning streak and the program's first ever win over a nationally-ranked team, as the Wildcats topped #12 Cal State Northridge on March 18 while on a trip to California over spring break. CSUN entered the match ranked No. 12 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll.
