In July, Daemen held a successful Animation Academy focused on introducing area high school students who are aspiring animators to the fundamentals of animation through hands-on learning. Led by Mike Jones, Associate Professor of Animation, the program helped students gain critical real-world experience on professional animation software and equipment.
“We are thrilled to offer this unique opportunity to high schoolers,” said Jones. “Especially those who may be interested in pursuing animation, hopefully here at Daemen.”
Also teaching at the Academy was Adjunct Professor and Daemen alum (Class of ’22) Jim Hulse. “The work the students produce at the academy strengthens their portfolios and gives them a huge competitive edge when applying to college,” noted Hulse.
Graduates of Daemen’s Animation Program go on to work at top-tier companies including Disney, DreamWorks, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Netflix. “We’re excited to see the next generation of animators get their start at Daemen,” said Daemen President Gary Olson.
