Paula Witherell, director of institutional communications at Daemen College, has received two 2018 Bronze Excalibur Awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Buffalo Niagara Chapter.
Witherell received a Bronze Excalibur Award in the video and audio programs category for the production of Daemen’s “Drive to 75” video, which was created for the public launch of the college’s capital campaign. She earned a second bronze in the newsletters and magazines category for the Daemen Voice, the college’s electronic newsletter. Thomas Wojciechowski, director of Web communications, has also been an important contributor to the newsletter’s online production.
“These awards demonstrate that Paula’s peers in the profession recognize the high quality of her work,” said Daemen President Gary Olson. “The awards are a tribute to her hard work and professionalism.”
A recipient of many PRSA Excalibur Awards throughout her career, Witherell most recently received a 2017 Gold Award in the press conferences category, and a Bronze Award also for the college’s newsletter.
In addition, she is a past winner of Accolade Awards in media relations, news writing, newsletters, and crisis communications from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District II, and was honored as the 2016 Am-Pol Eagle Citizen of the Year for Media.
Witherell is a West Seneca resident.
