Paula Witherell, director of institutional communications at Daemen College, has received two 2019 Excalibur Awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Buffalo Niagara Chapter.
Witherell earned a Silver Excalibur Award in the media relations category for her work in increasing the visibility of Daemen through its media relations program. She was also presented a Bronze Excalibur Award in the press conferences category for her execution of the announcement on the Daemen and SUNY Erie Community College educational partnership for student veterans.
“These awards demonstrate that Paula has solidified a reputation in the community for high-quality work,” said Mary Glenn, Daemen vice president for institutional advancement. “These awards are a tribute to her hard work and professionalism.”
A recipient of many PRSA Excalibur Awards throughout her career, Witherell most recently received two 2018 Bronze Awards in both the video and audio programs category as well as the newsletters and magazines category.
She is also a past winner of Accolade Awards in media relations, news writing, newsletters, and crisis communications from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District II. In addition, she was honored as the 2016 Am-Pol Eagle Citizen of the Year for Media and was inducted into the Cheektowaga Central Wall of Fame.
Witherell is a West Seneca resident.
