Daemen College student Madison Flores has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Western New York Paralegal Association.
Selection for the scholarship is based on academic excellence, commitment to the legal profession, college and community activities, and enrollment in a four-year paralegal studies program at a Western New York college or university. In addition to the scholarship, Flores will receive a one-year membership in the WNYPA.
“We are proud to have a Daemen student honored by the Western New York Paralegal Association,” said Margaret Phillips, director and associate professor of paralegal studies. “I am confident that Madison’s commitment to legal work to benefit the public interest will lead to much fulfillment and success in her future professional pursuits.”
Flores is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies with a minor in Spanish and plans to attend law school after graduating from Daemen. She gained hands-on experience in housing court through Daemen’s paralegal clinic program, and works part-time at a local law firm, all while maintaining Dean’s List status at Daemen.
Flores, a Seattle resident, is also a member of the women’s soccer team and serves on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
