Justin Iwankow began working in Daemen College’s Facilities Services Department in 2018 – and recently switched gears, becoming the college’s classroom and events specialist.
In his new role, Iwankow prepares and upgrades equipment for campus events and ensures all classroom technology runs smoothly for faculty and students.
“I am passionate about helping people learn – while also learning more myself about information technology,” said Iwankow. “The hands-on aspects of my work are enjoyable, even as I gain a variety of new skills in the field.”
A DJ for all seasons
Prior to working at Daemen, Iwankow spent five years working as an entertainment coordinator for the Erie County Fair.
“It was a fun experience and I gathered skills that I can apply here in my position at Daemen,” he said.
Outside of the college, Iwankow is kept busy working as an event DJ for various events, including corporate gatherings and weddings.
He has worked in this capacity for 20 years, and his experience has helped him build a base of audio and video knowledge.
He also teaches at a country line dancing establishment and helps run local volleyball tournaments.
