The Daemen University Animation Program has garnered statewide recognition, ranking among the top 10 animation schools in New York State by Animation Career Review—an online resource for those seeking careers in animation, graphic design, and other related fields.
More than 200 schools were surveyed for the ranking that was based on several criteria, including academic reputation, admission selectivity, depth and breadth of faculty, and graduation and retention rates.
“This designation demonstrates the dedication of Daemen animation faculty and the fantastic job they do,” said Mike Jones, associate professor of animation and program director. “It is through our faculty members’ expertise that students are able to learn and create the amazing animation art that is also tied to this achievement.”
Jones explained that Daemen animation faculty are active industry professionals, who work for companies including The Walt Disney Company, Bento Box, and Netflix. Graduates of the animation program pursue rewarding careers in many areas within the field, including animated feature films, streaming, television, visual effects for live-action films, video games, and more.
Since its inception 12 years ago, Animation Career Review has attracted over one million visitors to its website, including prospective students, who want to learn more about the schools represented among its rankings.
“I hope this ranking puts Daemen University on the map not only as a prized institution for science, but also for art,” said Jones. “I hope more Western New Yorkers will learn that our institution is a hidden gem in their own backyard.”
