AMHERST, N.Y. – Daemen University student athletes Dylan Fasoyiro (Houston, TX) of the men's basketball team and Alahna Paige (Rochester, N.Y.) of the women's basketball team have been named the December Athletes of the Month after a successful month on the court. The Daemen Athletics Athlete of the Month series is sponsored by WNY Knee and Orthopedic Surgery, and is brought back after a year-long hiatus.

Fasoyiro was named Male December Athlete of the Month after helping lead the Wildcats to a 4-1 record in the month including two big East Coast Conference victories over Roberts Wesleyan and Molloy and non-conference victories over Franklin Pierce and a double overtime win over Saint Anselm on New Year's Eve.

The 6-foot-3 senior guard averaged 19 points per game in December, shooting 47-percent from the field (32-of-68) and 38-percent (12-of-31) from beyond the arc in the month. Fasoyiro scored double-digit points in four of the five games in the month, including totaling 30 points in Daemen's 86-68 conference-opening victory where he shot 11-of-18 from the field and went 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. A 2022-23 Second-Team All-ECC honoree, Fasoyiro has started all 15 games this season and leads the Wildcats offensively on the year, averaging 15.8 points per game and shooting 49.7-percent from the field. The Wildcats have an 11-4 overall record this season and are 2-1 in ECC play.

Paige earns Female December Athlete of the Month after leading the Wildcats to a perfect 4-0 record in the month of December while picking up three big ECC wins over Roberts Wesleyan, Molloy and Queens.

Putting together a standout senior season, Paige totaled 100 points in December, averaging 25 points per game after shooting 60-percent (20-of-33) from beyond the arc and 49-percent (33-of-67) from the field. Paige led the Wildcats in all four December match ups and posted career-high outings in back-to-back games against Queens and Saint Michael's. In the win against Queens, she totaled 29 points, a career-high, and tied the Daemen record for most single-game three's (8) made. Paige finished with a career-high 30 points against the Purple Knights on December 30, going 11-for-21 from the field and 4-of 6 from beyond the arc. The senior has led the Cats in nine total games this season and along with leading the ECC in scoring, ranks third in NCAA Division II in both three-pointers per game (3.45) and three-point percentage (50.7%). On the year, Paige is averaging 20 points per game and shooting 45% from the field (74-of-163) while leading the Wildcats to an 8-3 overall record and 3-0 record in ECC games.
