AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen University Department of Athletics is among the Top 40 schools in all of Division II in the 2023-24 Learfield Directors' Cup Standings following the fall season. The final fall rankings were released today.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish at the NCAA Championships.

Daemen totaled 118.00 points through the fall, placing 39th out of 155 total schools vying for the Division II trophy. Grand Valley State University topped the Division II standings with 365.00 points. Colorado School of Mines (315.00), Wingate University (295.50), University of Charleston (260.00) and West Texas A&M University (243.50) rounded out the top five.

Daemen is ranked the highest among East Coast Conference teams and ranked fourth among schools from the East Region. The East Region consists of institutions from the ECC, the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). The top five East Region teams include Adelphi University (23rd, 160.00 points), Franklin Pierce University (26th, 140.00 points) and Southern New Hampshire University (26th, 140.00 points) of the NE-10, and Daemen (39th, 118.00 points) and Roberts Wesleyan University (46th, 111.00 points) of the ECC.

Daemen's outstanding fall season was highlighted by a run to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Division II Tournament by the women's volleyball team. The women's volleyball team accounted for 64 of Daemen's 118 points. The men's and women's cross country teams both placed in the top five of their respective NCAA regional races and both earned 27 points to account for Daemen's total points.

It was also recently announced by the ECC that following the fall season Daemen sits atop the 2023-24 Commissioner's Cup standings. The Commissioner's Cup is emblematic of the league's top programs across all of the conference's championship sports. The women's volleyball team claimed the ECC regular-season and tournament titles. The women's soccer team finished second in the regular season standings (its best finish ever) and advanced to the championship game of the ECC Tournament for the first time in program history. The men's and women's cross country teams both placed second at the ECC Championships and the women's tennis team made its fourth-straight appearance in the ECC Tournament semifinals. It marks the first time since Daemen joined the ECC that the Wildcats have topped the Commissioner's Cup standings.
