Men's Basketball Ranked 5th In D2SIDA Regional Poll

Wildcats own region's longest winning streak

AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen is ranked No. 5 in the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) East Region Men's Basketball Media Poll for week 11 of the 2021-22 season. The D2SIDA East Region Media Poll is conducted by sports information professionals representing the East Coast Conference, Northeast-10 Conference and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

This marks Daemen's highest ranking since the preseason version of the poll when they were ranked third. After a five-week absence, Daemen return to the poll in a tie for ninth on January 17. The Wildcats were were ranked sixth last week.

On the strength of nine straight victories, the Wildcats are among the hottest teams in the country. They own the longest active winning streak in the East Region - tied for sixth-longest among all NCAA Division II teams. The winning streak has the Wildcats positioned at 14-6 overall and a perfect 11-0 in ECC play.

The Wildcats are coming off a sweep of weekend home games against Staten Island (91-52) and District of Columbia (66-58). Daemen has won 50 of their 55 home games, including 15 straight in conference play.

Bentley (14-2) grabbed all six first-place votes and sit atop the poll for a second straight week. Dominican (N.Y.) (13-3), St. Thomas Aquinas (15-4) and Jefferson (13-4) are ranked second, third and fourth, respectively. Arguably Daemen's best win of the year came January 21 at St. Thomas Aquinas.

The bottom half of this week's poll includes No. 6 Saint Anselm (11-5), No. 7 New Haven (11-6), No. 8 Adelphi (13-6), No. 9 Franklin Pierce (9-5) and No. 10 Post (12-6).

Daemen has been ranked in 43 of the last 49 D2SIDA regional polls dating back to January 2018, posting a 90-27 record over that span.
