Dr. Patricia Ruppert Brown, a former vice president for enrollment management at Daemen University, passed away on February 3, 2024, at the age of 72.
Dr. Brown joined Daemen in 2002 as the dean of enrollment management and was later promoted to VP for enrollment management. She held that position until her retirement in May 2017.
During her 15-year tenure at Daemen, Brown is credited with building a comprehensive enrollment strategy and team.
“Dr. Brown was very dedicated to bringing in students that were the right fit for Daemen,” said Kelly Monkelbaan, the assistant dean of enrollment. “Throughout her time, she always found different ways to make Daemen stand out from its competitors, encouraging our team to brainstorm and come up with unique experiences for families.”
“Pat’s leadership at Daemen helped shape the vision for how we operate in enrollment, even today,” added Yolanda Morris, the senior director for enrollment events and experience. “We just celebrated the 20th anniversary of our Scholars Day event, which was started under her leadership. Her contribution to the university will be felt for years to come. It was truly a wonderful experience working with Pat, both professionally and personally.”
Dr. Brown earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in history from the State University of New York at Oswego and her doctorate in political science and public administration from Northern Arizona University.
She is predeceased by her husband, Leonard Brown, and leaves behind a son, Winston Harrel. A celebration of life will be planned in the spring.
