LATROBE, Pa. - The Daemen University women's bowling team placed second out of eight teams at the Brother Patrick Lacey Memorial Tournament hosted by Saint Vincent College at Lincoln Lanes today. The Wildcats posted the second highest overall total pinfall (4,349) of the eight teams, and advanced to the championship match of the tournament for the fifth time since 2018.

Daemen has participated in the Brother Patrick Lacey Memorial Tournament each of the last six years (tournament was not held in 2021 due to COVID-19) and has claimed the tournament title three times (2018, 2020 and 2022). The Wildcats placed second out of seven teams last year and have posted a 21-7 all-time record at the event.

Today's action featured five traditionally scored matches. Daemen faced off against Baldwin Wallace in the first round and the Wildcats posted an 867-759 win over the Yellow Jackets. The Wildcats then improved to 2-0 with a 956-893 win over Penn State Behrend. The Wildcats then suffered back-to-back losses to Pitt.-Greensburg (908-882) and Saint Vincent (798-866).

The two teams with the highest total pinfall after four rounds advanced to the championship match. Daemen's pinfall of 3,503 ranked second to Saint Vincent (3,554), which went undefeated over the first four rounds.

The championship match would feature two nationally ranked programs, as Daemen is ranked No. 12 and Saint Vincent is No. 9 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Division II/III poll released this week. The host Bearcats claimed the title for the second-straight year following an 895-846 victory over the Wildcats. SVC finished with a total pinfall of 4,449.

Br. Patrick Lacey All-TournamentSophomore Bailey Glass (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) and freshman Sabrina Palmer (Waterloo, N.Y.) both earned a spot of the five-member all-tournament team. Glass rolled a 224 in the win over Baldwin Wallace and followed up with a 234 against Penn State Behrend—the highest score by a Daemen bowler today. She competed in all five matches and totaled 960 pins for a 192.0 average, which ranked third among all bowlers. Palmer bowled a 216 against Penn State Behrend and a 213 in the loss to Pitt.-Greensburg. She competed in four of the five matches and totaled 752 pins. Her average of 188.0 was fifth best among bowlers that competed in at least four matches.

Senior Mollie Gizicki (Brighton, Mich.), who earned all-tournament honors at this even last year, competed in all five matches and totaled 868 pins. She rolled a 190 against Baldwin Wallace and a 191 against Pitt.-Greensburg. Her average of 173.6 ranked 10th among bowlers that competed in all five matches.

Graduate student Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) took part in four matches and totaled 651 pins for a 162.8 average. She posted a 184 in the win over Penn State Behrend. Freshman Brenna Forsha (Tonawanda, N.Y.) also competed in four matches and totaled 625 pins for a 156.3 average. She posted a 180 in the championship match against SVC. Freshman Chelsea Porga (Welland, Ont.) also competed in the championship match and rolled a team-high 187.

Daemen now stands at 30-22 on the year and returns to action next weekend (Feb. 16-18) when the Wildcats take part in the Wildcat Division II Invitational hosted by Wilmington University in New Castle, Del.
