Over 200 students were nominated to interview at Scholars Day for their chance to secure one of eight trustee scholarships, including two full-tuition scholarships and six $24,000 scholarships.

Students and their families were welcomed by President Gary A. Olson and Dr. Mimi Steadman, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives. Trustee scholar alum Alyssa Braun, ‘13, ‘14, and current trustee scholar Lauren Staley, ‘23, ‘25, also spoke about their distinctive Daemen experiences.

“Scholars Day means so much because it shows that Daemen is committed to academic excellence,” said Yolanda Morris, Senior Director for Enrollment Events and Experience. “We work very hard as a team to bring in stellar, well-rounded students, who succeed both academically and personally, throughout their college career.”Four students (African American man and three women with long hair standing arm-in-arm standing in front of a staircase.

Students were interviewed by volunteers, including faculty, administrators, Daemen alums, and high school guidance counselors from the Western New York region, and will be evaluated by the Scholars Day committee. Drs. Caitlyn Montross and Lisa Inglis served as faculty co-chairs.

“The committee takes a holistic approach to selecting students, reviewing their interview scores, application, GPA, and extracurricular activities,” said Megan Beardi, Director of Undergraduate Admissions. “We are looking for students who will make a positive impact during their time at Daemen and beyond.”
