Sischo Named ECC Player of the Week

12/6/2021 2:30:00 PM

AMHERST, N.Y. - For the second consecutive week, Andrew Sischo of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. The official announcement of weekly awards was made this afternoon in the ECC's weekly men's basketball report. Sischo is now a 27-time ECC weekly honoree, including 16 Player of the Week selections.

Sischo recorded his fifth straight double-double in Daemen's only game last week, a 63-61 road loss to nationally ranked West Liberty. The 6-foot-9 graduate student posted game-highs of 21 points and 13 rebounds while shooting 9-for-15 from the field. He added two blocks and two steals - both season-highs. With that performance, Sischo has scored 10+ points in 72 of his last 73 games; he has reached 20+ points in 24 of his last 28 contests.

A two-time consensus All-American and three-time ECC Player of the Year, Sischo is NCAA Division II's active leader in career points (2,376), rebounds (1,189) and double-doubles (66). He is the all-time leading scorer in Daemen and ECC history and stands just 24 points shy of becoming just the 39th player in NCAA Division II history to reach 2,400 points.

Through seven games this season, Sischo is leading the ECC in both scoring (21.9 ppg) and rebounding (12.5 rpg).

Sischo will lead the Wildcats (3-4, 1-0 ECC) into action tonight as they visit regional rival Le Moyne (5:30 p.m.) for a non-conference tip in Syracuse.
