A tradition of more than 50 years, Daemen’s Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) Faculty Exhibit showcases the work of full- and part-time faculty who are active, professional artists in the Western New York community and beyond.
The exhibit will be on display from Dec. 9 through Jan. 28 at the Elizabeth C. and Peter Tower Gallery, located in the Haberman Gacioch Arts Center next to the Research and Information Commons (RIC).
The exhibit features artwork in a variety of media, including 3D sculptures, paintings, drawings, and film.
“I always look forward to this annual exhibit because it’s fascinating to see what new projects our VPA faculty have been working on throughout the year,” said Brian Hammer ’02, instructor of art history and coordinator of the university’s galleries. “It provides an opportunity to celebrate their work and accomplishments. It is also a fun way to end the semester.”
A public opening reception will be held at the gallery from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9.
“The reception serves as an opportunity to meet the artists and learn more about Daemen’s experienced VPA faculty, as well as the courses they teach, academic programs, and the department overall,” said Hammer.
Hammer described the exhibit as an opportunity for attendees, including VPA students, to be inspired by the example set forth by Daemen’s VPA instructors.
“In addition to being teachers, Daemen faculty are also practicing artists within the community. This show is a way for students to understand that their teachers are also creating new, original work as professional artists,” he said.
