Emborsky Named ECC Player of the Week

The Graduate Transfer Picks Up ECC Weekly Award For First Time Since Transferring To Daemen

AMHERST, N.Y. -- Daemen University graduate transfer Paige Emborsky (Newfane, N.Y.) has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week after helping to lead the Wildcats to back-to-back victories in their ECC opening weekend. The official announcement of ECC awards was made by the in their weekly sport report this afternoon. This is the first time a Daemen women's basketball player has picked up a weekly award in this young season. 

The 5-foot-6 guard, who spent the last two years playing Division I basketball at Abilene Christian University, Emborsky has made an immediate impact on the Wildcats through the first six games of the year. In helping Daemen to conference wins over Molloy (74-56) and Queens (61-43) this weekend, Emborsky averaged 17.0 points and 7.0 rebounds. She shot 63-percent from the field (12-of-19) and was an absolute weapon from beyond the arc, finishing 88-percent (8-of-9) for three. Emborsky averaged 29.5 minutes per game, and pulled down 14 rebounds (13 defensive), including snagging a team-high eight rebounds against Queens on Sunday. She was a perfect 3-of-3 from three-point land against the Knights. 

In her stellar season with the Wildcats, Emborsky leads the team in points on the year (83 total to average 13.8 ppg), minutes played (169 total to average 28.2 minutes per game), field goal percentage (.622, 28-of-45 field goals made), three-point percentage (.704, 19-of-27 three-pointers made), and ranks second on the team in total rebounds (27 total, 4.5 rebounds per game). 

Emborsky has tallied five games with double-digit points, including three season-high 17-point games, and has led the team in scoring in four of Daemen's six games this season. She has been a pivotal part of the Wildcat offense this year, and has helped Daemen to a 6-0 record, marking their best start to the season in the NCAA era (2015-present). 

With their undefeated 6-0 season, the Wildcats are currently ranked No. 1 in the East Region and No. 10 in the Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll (D2SIDA), and cracked into the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Coaches Poll for the first time since the 2021-22 preseason poll, coming in at No. 23 in last week's poll. 

The Wildcats hit the road for their final ECC matches before Christmas. Daemen head to Sparkill, N.Y. to take on St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday, Dec. 9, then will face Mercy on Sunday, Dec. 11.
