Wildcats Stay At No. 7 In D2CSC Regional Poll

AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen University men's basketball team is ranked seventh in the fourth Division II College Sports Communicators (D2CSC) East Region Men's Basketball Media Poll for 2023-24. The Wildcats remained at No. 7 for the third-straight week. Daemen opened the season ranked fifth in the first poll of the 2023-24 season.

Daemen has been ranked in 61 of the last 69 D2CSC (formerly D2SIDA) regional polls dating back to January 2018.

Daemen has won six of its last seven games and improved to 7-3 on the year following an 86-68 win over Roberts Wesleyan University this past weekend at Lumsden Gymnasium. It marked the East Coast Conference opener for Daemen, and the 11th-straight home win for the Wildcats dating back to last season. Daemen has featured a balanced scoring attack and solid defense in its 10 games thus far. Five players are averaging in double figures and a sixth player is contributing 9.3 points. Senior Dylan Fasoyiro (Houston, Tex.) has scored over 20 points in four of the last six games and dropped 30 points in the win over Roberts Wesleyan. He is averaging 17.0 points with 21 three-pointers. Sophomore Justin Glover (Buffalo, N.Y.) has scored in double figures in eight of nine games and is averaging 13.4 points and 2.7 assists. Graduate student Joey Atkins (Watervliet, N.Y.), the ECC Preseason Player of the Year, is averaging 12.9 points and a team-high 6.9 rebounds. A three-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week selection, he leads the ECC in steals (18) and ranks second in blocks (13). Senior Andrew Mason (Webster, N.Y.) has reached double figures in points the last seven games and is averaging 10.9 points with a team-high 23 three-pointers. Senior Nick MacDonald (Amherst, N.Y.) is contributing 10.7 points per game, while sixth man Justin Hemphill (Buffalo, N.Y.) is producing 9.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest.

Daemen collected 20 points in this week's regional poll. Saint Thomas Aquinas collected all six of the first-place votes and remained atop the poll for the second-straight week with 60 points. The remaider of the top five includes Pace (48), Bentley (39), Dominican (38) and Post (38). The remainder of the poll includes Saint Michael's College (32), Daemen, Southern New Hampshire (17), Southern Connecticut State (14) and Caldwell (12).

The D2CSC East Region media poll is conducted by sports information professionals representing the East Coast Conference, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and Northeast-10 Conference.
