A new Daemen Athletics Hall of Fame display has been added to the lobby of Lumsden Gymnasium to highlight the university’s most accomplished athletes since the 1980s.
The display features an interactive touch screen with information about past inductees, current Daemen Athletics events, and an interactive campus map.
In addition, the display consists of a list of each induction class, along with complimentary visual elements to represent the history of Daemen Athletics.
“With it being Daemen’s 75th anniversary year, we thought now would be the best time to take on this project,” said Miranto. “This display uses modern technology and better represents Daemen Athletics today.”
Tom McDermott, director of athletics communications at Daemen, said, “I have worked at several schools over my career and I can honestly say this is one of the best Athletic Hall of Fame displays I have ever seen. The graphics are top notch and the interactive display is something that you would expect to see at the big time Division I school.”
Along with the new Hall of Fame display, Daemen Athletics will relaunch its on-campus Hall of Induction Ceremony on Feb. 25, 2023.
The ceremony, which last took place in 2014, will be held in the WICK Campus Center where inductees will be recognized in conjunction with a home basketball double header against D’Youville University.
“Both the new display and induction ceremony help recognize the great accomplishments of our many talented student-athletes throughout the years. Daemen Athletics would not be what it is today without our student-athlete alums,” explained Miranto. “The induction ceremony gives them the chance to return to campus and reconnect with the university as well as their old teammates.”
More information on the induction ceremony will be released closer to the event.
