Daemen University will officially name the newly constructed quad Saffrin Public Square in honor of the Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, Paul A. Saffrin.
Saffrin has supported various initiatives at Daemen, most recently donating $1.5 million through the Paul A. Saffrin Foundation to help make the dream of the quad a reality.
“For nearly a decade, Trustee Saffrin has been a steadfast supporter of Daemen University, beginning as an active member of the Daemen Community Advisory Board,
progressing to nearly a full term as a member of the Daemen Board of Trustees, serving as Vice Chair of the Board, and culminating in becoming one of the institution’s most consequential donors,” said President Gary A. Olson. “The impact that he has had on the university over this decade has been immense.”
In 2016, Saffrin donated $1 million to support Daemen’s Center for Sustainability. In recognition of this generous support, Daemen renamed it The Paul A. Saffrin Center for Sustainability and Civic Engagement.
Saffrin, a Midwest native, earned a bachelor’s degree in international marketing and psychology from Bradley University.
A formal opening ceremony for Saffrin Public Square will take place during Founders Week celebrations on Thursday, September 28.
