Melaine KenyonMelaine Kenyon, Vice President for Information Technology, was appointed in June 2024 to serve on the statewide NYSERNet Security Council. The Council will work collaboratively to create a professional security community, evaluate vendor tools, and pilot new cyber core services from NYSERNet. The Council also includes representatives from the University at Buffalo, the American Museum of Natural History, and Colgate University.

“I am pleased to have been appointed to this prestigious group to work on new information security opportunities,” says Kenyon.

Cybersecurity remains a top priority across the higher education information technology landscape. Educause, a national nonprofit whose mission is to promote technology’s positive impact on higher education, has consistently identified cybersecurity as a Top 10 IT issue since 2016. Cybersecurity threats range from social engineering attempts to ransomware and often target college campuses.

“Daemen is well-positioned to keep our information technology infrastructure secure and safe from harmful threats thanks to Melaine and her team,” noted President Gary Olson. “Daemen will benefit from the Council’s collaborative approach and resource sharing model.”
