Daemen University has introduced four new academic programs: Health, Wellness, and Fitness Management, B.S.; Marketing, B.S.; Strategic Communications, B.A.; and Studio Arts, B.F.A.
The Health, Wellness, and Fitness Management degree combines health promotion, applied fitness, and business courses to prepare grads for a variety of careers, including not-for-profit community health agencies; government public health agencies; and corporate or worksite wellness; among others. The curriculum combines skills-based health studies and background in the psychological, sociological, behavioral, and business aspects of health care.
The Marketing degree offers advanced marketing knowledge and tools with business fundamentals. Coursework begins with marketing principles, after which students embark on a comprehensive set of specialized marketing courses covering topics in e-commerce and social media marketing; customer and promotional/brand strategy and management; and analytical and strategic marketing.
“The addition of the Health, Wellness, and Fitness Management and Marketing programs helps round out the academic offerings within our College of Health, Human Sciences, and Business,” said founding dean Dr. Lisa Rafalson. “Whether students have a passion for impacting mental and physical wellbeing or driving marketing and business strategies, these programs will set them up for successful, fulfilling careers.”
The Strategic Communications degree fosters critical thinking, ethical communication, and adaptability across diverse applications, from digital media to corporate, public, and nonprofit sectors. Students will apply strategic communications knowledge to an interdisciplinary specialization track such as English Studies, Political Communications, Community Health Promotion, or Graphic Design and Marketing.
Daemen’s B.F.A. degree provides students with a broad overview of multiple artistic disciplines within Studio Arts. Students learn and create across several dedicated multi-disciplinary studio spaces and a professional gallery, and pursue flexible course offerings that develop them into well-rounded artists.
“The Strategic Communications program was developed to address the growing need for professionals who can communicate effectively across multiple platforms, industries, and audiences,” said Dr. Heather Stassen, founding dean for the College of Arts, Sciences and Education. “In addition, we developed the B.F.A. program to give artists the opportunity to explore multiple artistic disciplines since they are often called upon to share their expertise across a variety of media.”
