AMHERST, N.Y. -- John Jaworski (Naperville, Ill.) of the Daemen University men's volleyball team has been named the Off The Block National Libero of the Week after his stellar performance on the court over the weekend. Off The Block is a website solely dedicated to the coverage of collegiate men's volleyball, and releases a National Position Player of the Week Award each week to recognize the libero, middle attacker, opposite, outside attacker and setter who had the best performances in NCAA men's volleyball during the week.

Jaworski, a 5-foot-10 senior defensive specialist, put together a massive weekend in Daemen's pair of victories over Long Island University and St. Francis Brooklyn. He posted a career-high 15 digs in the Wildcats' come-from-behind five-set victory over LIU on Friday night, clinching Daemen a spot in the inaugural Northeast Conference Championship Tournament with the 3-2 win. On Saturday night, Jaworski tallied his second straight double-digit dig outing of the season, finishing with 11 digs in the 3-2 win over the Terriers. On the year, Jaworski has appeared in 18 of Daemen's 19 matches this season, and ranks fourth on the team in digs (74) to average 1.17 digs/set. 

Jaworski is the second Daemen player to receive a national award from Off The Block this season. Senior outside hitter Zach Schneider (Lockport, N.Y.) received National Outside Attacker of the Week recognition on March 20 after posting a career-high 26 kill performance and leading the Wildcats' to the program's first ever win over a nationally ranked team when they took down No. 12 Cal State Northridge. 

The Wildcats come into their final regular season homestand of the year this weekend when they play host to Sacred Heart and Merrimack. Daemen will host the Pioneers on Friday at 6 PM, then will take on the Warriors of Merrimack on Saturday in a 4 PM match, with Senior Day celebrations taking place prior to the start.
