Dr. Robert E. Rood, who has more than 35 years of experience in financial management and operations, has been appointed vice president for business affairs and treasurer at Daemen College, announced President Gary Olson.
His appointment, which is effective June 1, followed a national search by a committee comprised of Daemen faculty, staff, students, and trustees.
“Dr. Rood is an experienced professional and brings to this important role many impressive qualifications,” said Olson. “As a proven leader in financial administration, he possesses a breadth of expertise, insight, and strategic vision that will elevate our financial and business operations.”
As Daemen’s chief financial officer, Rood will be responsible for the financial integrity of Daemen and provide stewardship of the college’s facilities operations, human resources, and related services.
“I am deeply grateful to be selected to serve in this administrative capacity and thrilled to have the opportunity to return to my Western New York roots,” said Rood. “I look forward to joining President Olson and my Daemen colleagues as we work together to build on the strengths of the college.”
Rood comes to Daemen from Lourdes University in Ohio, where he is vice president for finance and administration. He previously was associate vice president of finance and interim treasurer and CFO at Roberts Wesleyan College and has held financial administrative positions in the nonprofit and banking industries.
A certified public accountant, Rood earned a doctorate in higher education administration and an MBA, both from the University at Buffalo, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Canisius College.
He is a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers, Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers, and the Institute of Management Accountants.
A Western New York native, Rood is originally from Hamburg.
