Buffalo Business First has named Jeffrey Sage, the assistant athletic director for sports medicine and performance at Daemen University, a recipient of a 2024 Excellence in Health Care Award.
The sixth annual awards honor high-achieving professionals in the healthcare industry whose work has improved the way the health system operates in Western New York.
Sage is one of 25 individuals who will be recognized during a dinner at Italian Prime at Salvatore’s in June.
“I am honored and very humbled to be recognized as a recipient of the Excellence in Health Care Award from Business First,” Sage said. “This is something that I will proudly share with my colleagues here at Daemen. Without the teamwork that has been fostered, both in the Division of Athletics and across our campus, this recognition wouldn’t have been possible. It is also especially rewarding for me to see the athletic training profession viewed in the same light as other health care professionals.”
Sage, who started at Daemen in 1995, is the longest-tenured employee on the athletic staff.
“Jeff has been such an important and respected part of the Daemen community for nearly three decades,” added Director of Athletics Traci Murphy. “He has developed an athletic training staff and culture of health, safety, and compassion, and we appreciate everything that Jeff does for our student-athletes. It often goes unheralded, so it is great to see his hard work recognized with this honor. He is such a deserving recipient.”
He graduated from the State University of New York at Brockport with a bachelor’s degree and earned his master’s from California University of Pennsylvania. Sage holds professional certifications in athletic training (ATC), strength and conditioning (CSCS), and performance enhancement (PES).
