Danielle Johnston, PA-C, MPAS, an assistant professor and clinical education specialist in the Physician Assistant Studies department and Daemen University alum, has been named the 2023 Preceptor/Educator of the Year by the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA).
The award recognizes a PA’s excellence in the clinical education of PAs as a preceptor, mentor, role model, speaker, and/or instructor.
“Professor Johnston has complete control of the Daemen University PA program dermatology course,” said Program Director Joel Patterson, PA-C, MPAS. “Since she is actively practicing in dermatology, she frequently brings ‘real life’ case studies to class and continues to update journal articles to supplement classroom material through required readings.”
Johnston added, “I am honored to receive the award from The Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. As an educator and practicing PA, recognition from my professional peers inspires me in the continual goal of prioritizing student clinical proficiency. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve our students in partnership with my colleagues here at Daemen and The Dermatologic Center for Excellence, without whom this recognition would be possible.”
Johnston has worked at The Dermatologic Center for Excellence in Clarence since 2014. She graduated from Daemen in 2010 with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies and was named Student of the Year by the PA faculty.
