Elizabeth Wright
Joining the Daemen College Education Department faculty in 2006, Elizabeth Wright currently serves as associate dean for the department. In this capacity, since 2012 she also worked on international education projects with the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland through funding provided by the Earle I. Mack Foundation.
Wright, who formerly served as executive director of the Thomas Reynolds Center for Special Education and After-School Programs, led the Education Department through approval by the New York State Regents Accreditation of Teacher Education (RATE), Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC), and Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
In the classroom, she teaches the “Special Education Laws and Trends” course to education graduate students and the graduate “Special Education Research Seminar.” She is also a frequent presenter at national and regional conferences on the education department’s research.
Prior to coming to Daemen, Wright was a partner at Goldstein, Ackerhalt & Pletcher, LLP, where she practiced law in the areas of education law, special education law, and estate planning for families with children who have special needs. She is admitted to practice law in both New York State and Federal District Court.
Wright earned a law degree and master of social work from the University at Buffalo, and a bachelor’s degree in literature and rhetoric and political science (dual major) from SUNY Binghamton.
