Physician Assistant Alum Named Advanced Practice Provider of the Year

Jessica Lightner Brown ‘05Kenmore Mercy Hospital recently named Jessica Lightner Brown ‘05 the 2020 Advanced Practice Provider of the Year.  Brown graduated with honors in 2005 and has more than 16 years of diverse experiences as a physician assistant specialist. She is a member of the ICU team with Kenmore Mercy. Brown was previously a physician assistant at MICU at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC and Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA.  

Established in 2018, the Advanced Practice Provider of Year award recognizes an exceptional advanced practice provider for their impact on the profession, the patients and the healthcare team. The Advanced Practice Provider of the Year award was presented to Brown in honor of her contributions throughout the COVID-19 crisis at both the Kenmore Mercy and St. Joseph COVID-19 treatment center intensive care units.

“In my career taking care of critically ill patients, working through the pandemic has been one of the most challenging seasons in critical care medicine”, said Brown. “Working collectively with a supportive administration, physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, respiratory therapists, rehab services, and aides caring for those in our community has made a difference in the lives of patients who have endured COVID. I am honored to have been a part of the critical care team providing care to the sickest of these patients”

Brown, a Williamsville resident, is married to Justin Brown and is the mother of four children.
