Short animation films created by Daemen College Class of 2020 animation majors were featured on the outdoor big screen at Transit Drive-In where the college’s The Senior Show was held on Oct. 8.
“Once New York State reopened our region this summer, our students came to Daemen to begin the rendering process on their films,” said Mike Jones, program director and assistant professor of animation. “Working in individual shifts with intensive precautions, these students were determined to finish their films to the fullest by the theatrical release deadline. They are indeed the type of student that exemplifies the talent and skills seen in Daemen animation graduates.”
Eight student-created animation films were screened at the show, which was postponed from the spring semester due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event feature films by animation majors Austin Deer of Depew, “Jumbo”; Jack Gatto of Lewiston, “Hobros Train of Pain”; Jackie Frank of Williamsville, “Elysian Grove”; Emily Goldenberg of Vestal, “Food Web”; Ray Klimek of North Tonwanda, “Polar Blues”; Kathleen Lemke of Rochester, “The Trip”; Geoff Roberts of Niagara Falls, “Eye of the Terrier”; and Jacob Thompson of Kenmore, “Aegis.”
Senior Show participants graduated with a bachelor’s degree in animation and were celebrated at Daemen’s virtual commencement held on Aug. 15.
