Daemen College is proud to stand with NCAA member institutions across the country in support of the #UnitedAsOne campaign. The social media initiative started less than 24 hours after the NCAA announced its unprecedented decision to cancel the remaining winter and spring championships in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The brainchild of approximately 50 digital content and social media professionals with NCAA member athletic departments, the #UnitedAsOne campaign represents 1,100 NCAA schools and 500,000 student-athletes cohesively fighting through this ever-changing situation. It started small but quickly gained momentum with social media accounts posting a unified graphic that reads “United As One” on one side – the “O” being the NCAA’s logo – and personalized with the school’s logo on the other side.

The goal of the #UnitedAsOne campaign, according to Mike Miranto, senior associate athletics director for operations and communications at Daemen, is to provide positive social engagement during a time of unprecedented uncertainty, especially for student-athletes who have been directly affected by having their seasons cut short or cancelled all together.
“It is important for us as an athletic department, perhaps now more than ever, to provide the necessary support to our student-athletes as we all navigate through this crisis,” said Miranto. “Providing positive messaging on social media to assure people everywhere that we will get through this together and be stronger for it is just one small piece of the puzzle. We are proud to participate in this effort alongside our fellow NCAA members.”
