After living in Las Vegas his entire life, Alexander Marks moved to Amherst to attend Daemen College. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history and government from Daemen in 2008 and was the department’s valedictorian. As a student, he served as president of the Pre-Law Association and vice president of the History and Government Club.
It was at Daemen where Marks discovered that he wanted to use a law degree outside of the courtroom setting. He went on to attend the Massachusetts School of Law where he received his law degree in 2011.
Marks began his legal career as director of government affairs and in-house counsel at the Arizona Students’ Association. In that role, he advocated on behalf of families and students for affordable and accessible university and community college programs. He eventually returned to Las Vegas where he accepted a position in the gaming law and regulatory compliance field. He most recently served as general counsel for a Las Vegas tourism and entertainment company.
In 2015, Marks was endorsed by the Nevada Senate Democrats for his State Senate run in his Las Vegas district. He has since been researching and developing legislative priorities, fundraising, and knocking on thousands of doors in his district.
