Jeff Sage
Jeff Sage, who previously served as director of sports medicine at Daemen College, was promoted this year to assistant athletics director for sports medicine and performance.
Sage continues to oversee the sports medicine and performance offices, which provide essential health care and performance training to more than 200 Daemen student-athletes at Daemen. While maintaining his athletic training responsibilities, he has added sport oversight to his administrative plate, specifically for the Daemen cheerleading program, which has been upgraded from club to varsity status. He has also taken on greater responsibility in campus recreation, intramurals, and club sports.
Sage began working at Daemen in 1995 through an affiliation with Catholic Health’s AthletiCare. Two years later, he was named the college’s first-ever head athletic trainer, a title he held until the 2015-16 academic year when he was promoted to director of sports medicine.
He has also previously served as a clinical assistant professor and clinical coordinator for Daemen’s athletic training major, a role in which he helped the program gain accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.
Sage received the 2017 Brett Ferber Unsung Hero Award, named for the former student and men’s basketball team manager, which is awarded annually to the staff member or student who goes above and beyond in their dedication and support of Daemen Athletics.
In addition to his duties at Daemen, Sage serves as president of the New York State Athletic Trainers’ Association. He is a graduate of SUNY College at Brockport and earned a master’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania. He holds professional certifications in athletic training, strength and conditioning, and performance enhancement.
A native of Wyoming, N.Y., Sage resides in Akron with his wife, Jackie, and their two children, Jason and Jenna.
