Daemen College has been selected for the ninth consecutive year by Victory Media as a Military Friendly School, making it one of the best colleges in the country for veterans to receive a college education.
This national designation is awarded to top colleges, universities, and trade schools that are doing the most for veterans and have the dedicated resources to ensure their success in the classroom and beyond graduation.
“We are proud to again earn this prestigious distinction and to be recognized for creating a military friendly environment on our campus,” said Daemen President Gary Olson. “Student veterans are an important part of our college community, and we remain committed to their educational and professional success.”
The newly released 2018-19 Military Friendly Schools list is based on extensive research from public data sources and survey responses from participating institutions. For the first time, student survey data was taken into consideration for the designation.
Institutions were rated based on student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement and transfer), and loan default rates.
According to Daniel Nichols, chief product officer at Victory Media, “Our ability to apply a clear and consistent standard to colleges creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages colleges to invest in programs to provide educational outcomes that are better for veterans.”
The 2018-19 Military Friendly Schools list will be published in the May issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and is available at www.militaryfriendly.com.
This distinction bolsters Daemen’s recent announcement on a new educational partnership with SUNY Erie Community College that is designed to provide student veterans and military aligned students a seamless transition from earning a SUNY Erie associate’s degree to completing a bachelor’s degree at Daemen.
Consistently ranked as a top military friendly and veteran supportive institution, Daemen’s veteran services are coordinated through the college’s Nancy Haberman Gacioch Center for Veterans, which offers a place on campus where veterans, active duty service members, and military aligned students may study or connect with other students with military service. In addition to the center, the Daemen Student Veteran Alliance is an active advocacy organization for student veterans, and hosts several activities and events throughout the academic year.
