Justin Johnston, director of development at Daemen College, has been appointed to the Center for Fundraising Innovation’s Research Council of the Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
The international council, which is made up of fundraising professionals from the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia, provides research on issues that impact fundraising and philanthropy. It is currently focusing on fundraising trends at nonprofits, fundraising costs and effectiveness, international fundraising issues, and demographics of fundraisers and donors, and will conduct an annual compensation and benefits survey.
“I’m honored to have this opportunity to serve the fundraising profession on an international level,” said Johnston. “As a member of this council, my goal is to conduct research that will help guide the fundraising profession for many years to come.”
Johnston was named to the director of development role at Daemen in 2015, having previously served as director of annual giving. In addition to his work on the Center for Fundraising Innovation’s Research Council, he is treasurer and an executive committee member of the AFP Western New York Chapter.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in history and government from Daemen and a master’s degree in college student personnel administration from Canisius College, and is pursuing a doctorate in higher education administration from the University at Buffalo.
Johnston resides in Williamsville.
