Daemen College President Gary Olson has announced that Dr. Kathleen Boone, who has served with distinction for more than 23 years as Title IX coordinator, will step down from this role to devote more time to serving as associate vice president for academic affairs.
In making the announcement, Olson thanked Boone for her many years of distinguished service as coordinator, noting she has been diligent in keeping up with a multitude of changes in Title IX federal law.
“We commend Dr. Boone for her high level of dedication in ensuring the college is in compliance with Title IX regulations and that all in the Daemen community are treated equitably and with respect,” said Olson. “A valued and well-regarded colleague at Daemen, Kathy will continue to provide exceptional leadership and expertise in her administrative role at the college.”
With this change, Olson also announced that Laurie Walsh, associate professor of physical therapy, has been appointed Title IX coordinator. She will be assisted by deputy coordinators Marissa Pace, director of human resources; Brandi Guerinot, interim athletics director; and Megan Altman-Cosgrove, assistant director of residence life. These changes are effective immediately.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve in this role, and I look forward to working with the Title IX team in furthering the excellent work in this area that was accomplished under Kathy’s leadership,” said Walsh, who has taught coursework involving civil rights and gender policy issues.
