Don Gleason is serving as the first head coach of Daemen College’s men’s volleyball team, which will begin competition during the 2018-19 academic year.
Gleason, who assisted on coach Stephanie Albano’s staff for Daemen’s women’s volleyball team, brings a wealth of experience to the position with previous coaching stops at the Division I and Division III levels. The Hamburg native has been an assistant coach on the women’s volleyball staffs at Stony Brook University, the University at Buffalo, and Yale University.
Gleason started in coaching as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s programs at Medaille College and as a volunteer assistant at the University of Southern California. In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, he has extensive ties to the club volleyball scene, and he owns and operates Oasis Beach Volleyball Club for boys and girls ages 10-18.
Gleason will have a full calendar year to recruit team members from among prospective student-athletes in the high school graduating Class of 2018. The Daemen men’s volleyball team will officially open play in January 2019.
