Torsten Doering
Dr. Torsten Doering, director of the Daemen College International Business Program and assistant professor of accounting, worked in management positions for 20 years in Europe and the U.S. before discovering his passion for teaching.
Doering’s research focuses on supply chain management in international context that are supported by empirical methods. He is a member of the Global Manufacturing Research Group, which studies global supply chains and collects data in all economic regions. He has had a forecasting study based on primary data published in the Journal of Supply Chain Management, with further studies being prepared. In November, he will deliver an invited presentation, “Measuring the Effects of Time with Repeated Cross-Sectional Surveys,” at the annual meeting of the Decision Sciences Institute being held in Washington, D.C.
Doering earned a doctorate in operations management and strategy and an MBA with distinction from the University at Buffalo, and an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in economics from universities in Germany.
During his free time, Doering enjoys sailing and participating in long distance regattas in the summer. He lives in Amherst with his wife, Salpi.
