Animation Students Hit the BIFF Screen

The BIFF screened 200 feature films, shorts, and episodic works from 37+ countries, including 10 Daemen shorts — six featured during the Saturday Morning Cartoons event at the historic North Park Theatre on Oct. 11, and four featured during the Students (Monday Showcase) on Oct. 13. 

Saturday Morning Cartoons

“We are very excited to see so many Daemen Animation students’ films in the Buffalo International Film Festival this year,” said Mike Jones, associate professor and program director of Animation. “The talent the students showcase is amazing.”

Jackson Mielnicki’s senior animated film, “Energy Crisis,” received two awards in September, including Gold Award: Animation at the New York Movie Awards and Best Animated Film at the East Village New York Film Festival. This month, his film won awards at the Paris Film, London Movie, and Hollywood Gold Awards.
