A Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) peer review team visited Daemen University March 16-19 to conduct an on-site evaluation of the university as part of its reaffirmation of accreditation process.
The seven-person team, led by committee chair, Dr. Walter Iwanenko, President of Gannon University, spent two full days on Daemen’s campus conducting a holistic evaluation of the university, meeting with various members of Daemen’s faculty and staff to discuss the university’s self-study report and Daemen’s compliance with MSCHE’s standards of accreditation.
More than 80 faculty and staff worked on Daemen’s self-study report over the last two years in preparation for the site visit, which culminated in the team’s exit report to the Daemen community on March 19. “I could not be more proud of the dedication of the Self-Study steering committee and working groups, and of the faculty, staff, and students who stepped up to host a successful Middle States site visit,” said Dr. Mimi Steadman, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, adding, “The visiting team’s commendation of Daemen’s collaborative community comes as no surprise.”
Next, the visiting team will present its findings to the MSCHE Committee on Evaluation, who will forward a proposed action to the Commission for their final review. Daemen will receive final notification of the Commission’s action later this year.
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) is an institutional accreditor that validates the educational rigor of colleges and universities, and in turn gives value and weight to degrees granted. MSCHE is recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education.
