Daemen University hosted a ribbon-cutting event on Nov. 4 to commemorate the official unveiling of the newly renovated Graduate Gross Anatomy Lab, which features state-of-the-art cadaver dissection tables, each equipped with an operatory surgical light for dissection and structure viewing.
Additional lab features include an operating room epoxy floor, which supports a new autopsy sink. The lab is equipped with real-time streaming technology that enables live dissection videos or 3D anatomy software to be projected onto seven large TVs, ensuring unobstructed ease of viewing.
“This is a very exciting moment for our college, the university, our faculty, and especially the PA and PT graduate students who are the heart and soul of this endeavor,” said Dr. Greg Ford, the founding dean of the Scott Bieler College of Health Professions. “It’s truly an honor to be here today to mark this milestone for our institution, and today we celebrate not only the official opening of this space, but also the expanded opportunities it offers our physician assistant and physical therapy graduate students.”
In addition to the Gross Anatomy Lab renovations, the university unveiled a new graduate study room for PA and PT students, which features comfortable seating, anatomical models, two large white boards, and an 85” LED monitor for projecting 3D anatomy software.
“This lab and study room are more than just a place to learn anatomy. They’re a gateway to skills and knowledge that our PA and PT students will carry with them into their careers. It’s an investment in their future and in the health communities that they will serve,” said Ford.
