10/2/2023 4:01:00 PM

AMHERST, N.Y. – Junior Kitsa Scime (Williamsville, N.Y.) of Daemen University has been honored by the East Coast Conference for her outstanding play last week. Scime was named the ECC Co-Player of the Week, marking the second-straight week and third time this season she has earned the honor. The announcement of award winners was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon.

It marks the fourth time in her career that Scime has been selected ECC Player of the Week. Last fall she became the first Daemen women's tennis player to be selected ECC Player of the Week since Christina Stasiuk in April of 2021.

Scime went 2-0 at No. 2 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles during a 1-1 week. She helped Daemen to a non-league win at SUNY Fredonia on Wednesday and turned in two strong efforts during a loss to Division I Niagara University on Saturday. She posted a 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 win over Niagara's Coral Rodriguez in singles play, which extended her singles winning streak to four-straight matches. She also teamed up with senior Frida Rubio (San Diego, Calif.) to post a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles in the loss to Niagara.

A product of Williamsville East High School, Scime recorded her 31st career singles win during the loss at Niagara and ranks fifth among Daemen's all-time leaders in career singles wins. She is 8-2 in singles play this year and is now 26-9 in her last 35 singles matches dating back to the end of her freshman season.

Daemen stands at 4-2 overall and 1-0 in ECC play this season and returns to action Friday (Oct. 6) with a conference match at the University of the District of Columbia.
