AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen University Division of Athletics is pleased to announce that it will host a celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day powered by the Women's Sports Foundation on Sunday, February 25 at the John R. Yurtchuk Student Center on the Amherst campus.

Daemen's celebratory event includes a workshop about being a well-balanced athlete, led by featured speakers Dr. Amy Trabert, a psychotherapist from Whole Wellness Counseling, and Natalie Robertello, a sports dietician from Be Fueled Sports Nutrition. Trabert, a 2018 Daemen graduate and former cross country/track & field athlete for the Wildcats, will speak about the importance of a healthy brain, while Robertello, who provides her nutritional expertise to Daemen's current student-athletes, will speak about the importance of a healthy body.

The event, which begins at 11 a.m., is open to the public. Specifically, female athletes in grades four and above are encouraged to attend. Admission to the event is free, but a ticket is required. Tickets can be obtained at daemenwildcats.com/NGWStickets

In addition to the hour-long event, attendees will receive a commemorative National Girls and Women in Sports Day poster signed by Daemen's female student-athletes. Also, those with tickets to the event will also be offered free admission to the women's basketball game between Daemen and D'Youville University beginning at noon that same day at Lumsden Gymnasium.
